FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Wovly.

General

Wovly is an autonomous communication agent - a privacy-focused AI assistant that manages your inbox, replies, and follow-ups across Email, Slack, iMessage, and more.
Wovly is open source and free to use. However, you need API keys for LLM providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google), which have their own pricing.
We recommend Anthropic Claude Sonnet for the best balance of quality and speed. OpenAI GPT-4o and Google Gemini Pro are also excellent options.
No. Wovly requires internet access to communicate with LLM APIs and integration services.
Wovly runs on macOS, Windows, and Linux. Some features (like iMessage) are platform-specific.

Privacy & Security

All data is stored locally on your machine in ~/.wovly-assistant/. Nothing is synced to cloud servers.
No. Credentials are stored encrypted and used directly for browser automation. They are never sent to LLM providers or displayed in chat.
Yes. Delete the ~/.wovly-assistant/ folder to remove all Wovly data, or selectively delete memory/task files.
No. Wovly is a desktop application. All API calls go directly from your machine to service providers (Google, Slack, LLM APIs).

Features

Tasks are autonomous background workflows that execute over time. They’re great for scheduling meetings (back-and-forth negotiation), following up on emails, and coordinating with multiple people.
Skills are reusable procedures that define how Wovly handles specific types of requests. They include steps, templates, and guidelines.
Yes! With browser automation enabled, Wovly can navigate websites, fill forms, search for information, and extract data.
Yes. Wovly analyzes your past messages to each recipient and mimics your tone, formality, and patterns when drafting messages.

Integrations

For integrations like Google and Slack, you need your own OAuth credentials because Wovly acts as YOU (not a bot). This ensures messages appear as sent by you and you have full control over permissions.
LinkedIn’s API is highly restricted and doesn’t allow the functionality Wovly would need. Their terms prohibit automation of messaging and most data access.
Currently, Wovly supports one account per integration type. Multi-account support may come in future versions.
Wovly automatically refreshes OAuth tokens. If refresh fails, you’ll be prompted to reconnect the integration.

Troubleshooting

Response time depends on the LLM provider. Claude and GPT-4o are generally fastest. Check your internet connection and try a different model if needed.
Try disconnecting and reconnecting. If that doesn’t work, check that all required permissions were granted during OAuth.
Check that the integration is connected and you’ve approved the message in the confirmation dialog. For iMessage, ensure Full Disk Access is granted.
Ensure Chrome or Chromium is installed and browser automation is enabled in Settings. Some websites block automation.
Check the Troubleshooting guide, open an issue on GitHub, or ask in the community Discord.
